Information for Choose Well Champions
This page has been set up by the NHS to support Choose Well Champions.
On this page you will find a range of useful materials, which can be downloaded free-of-charge, and used in your internal communications campaigns and channels for your staff, and as part of your health and wellbeing schemes.
Educating your staff about NHS services will help them to look after their health. It will also help them to better understand the best NHS services to use if they or a member of their family is ill.
Illnesses such as coughs and colds, flu, and stomach upsets are unpleasant for people but self-limiting. They can be managed by getting plenty of rest and following some basic medical advice. Local high-street pharmacists provide accessible, expert advice and treatment, without the need for an appointment.
The NHS Choose Well campaigns aim to:
- Educate people about self-care if they have a minor illness, ailment or injury
- Signpost people to the right service to use if they need advice and treatment
What materials are available?
The materials are available as PDFs, which can either be printed in-house, emailed to staff or added to websites.

Choose Well Messages
NHS 111 is a new free to use telephone service being rolled out across the country, to make it easier to access urgent care services. If you live in County Durham and Darlington, Lancashire (excluding West Lancashire), Lincolnshire, the London boroughs of Croydon and Hillingdon, Luton, North Derbyshire and Nottingham City, or on the Isle of Wight, you can now call 111 when you need medical help fast but it’s not a 999 emergency.
