NHS Resilience and Emergency Planning
The role of the Resilience team is to ensure continued operational delivery of healthcare services in the North West when faced with disruptive challenges. These range from extremes of weather to acts of terrorism, and can be both external to the organisation or disruption from off-site incidents to internal business processes, such as loss of telecoms.
For example, during the Influenza Pandemic, the NHS had to plan for an increase in the numbers of patients and disruption to business as usual, especially staffing.
The department ensures that there is adequate planning for all eventualities including the creation of plans such as the Major Incident Plan, Pandemic Flu Plan and Business Continuity Plan.
In the event of any local, regional or national incidents, the Resilience Team will provide updates and information for the public through our website. Any media enquiries should be directed to the North West strategic health authority's media hotline on 07824 463578.
