Between September 2007 and May 2008, Health Minister Lord Ara Darzi carried out a national ‘next stage’ review of the NHS, involving patients, staff and the wider public, to determine how health services should develop over the next 10 years.
The final report which came out of this review. High Quality Care For All, was published in June 2008. It sets a new foundation for a health service that empowers staff and gives patients choice. It ensures that health care will be personalised and fair, include the most effective treatments within a safe system, and help patients to stay healthy.
