Who are we?

The Market Development/ Commercial Reform team’s ultimate goal is to ensure the provision of the best, most cost-effective and clinically-sound services for the population of the North West of England.

It does this by supporting NHS organisations like primary care trusts, which commission services, to choose those that offer the best patient experience and value for money, but with a minimum of bureaucracy.

In doing so the team ensures that all providers are treated equally, regardless of their organisational form, legal status or means of funding.

The team encourages the use of, and provides training in, best practice in procurement, contract design and management. Services must also meet and exceed service user and carer expectations by consulting all those who may be affected by the change.
