Children's Clinical Pathway Group

In this financially constrained time, it is recognised by the Children's Clinical Pathway Group (CPG) that the challenges facing the NHS will only be overcome by teams and organisations sharing solutions.

This page offers further details of the exemplars collated in the CPG report. They are placed in a QIPP (Quality, Innovations, Productivity and Prevention) template and include contact details of the key individual. This gives a deeper understanding of how they overcame local challenges to become examples of good practice in the North West.

For further information on issues relating to Children's Urgent Care, a Community of Practice is being set up for those who share a passion for improvement of the children's urgent care pathway. A link to this Community of Practice will be added here soon.

The Children’s CPG learnt from the experiences of last year and this has influenced the make-up of the group. In particular, it was realized that although termed “Clinical Pathway Group”, real change in children’s health could only come through cross-agency collaboration.

Therefore, members were invited from local authorities and voluntary services, giving a great breadth of knowledge and experience. Additionally, the chairmanship of the group was
broadened so that there were two co-chairs:

  •  Dr Sian Snelling, Consultant Paediatrician and Acting Medical Director of Alder Hey Children’s Trust and;
  • Moira Swann, Director of Children’s Services of Cumbria County Council.
