LAAs are about improving local services and increasing economic prosperity for local people, thus helping to achieve better health and reducing health inequalities. They are three-year agreements with priorities agreed between all the main public sector agencies working in the area and with Central Government.
These agreements mean that the organisations concerned can sign up to their own shared priorities and match local solutions to local circumstances. They encourage more effective joined up working of public services which in turn leads to improved outcomes.
Local Area Agreements cover four main areas:
- Safer and Stronger Communities Fund
- Children and Young People
- Economic Development and Enterprise
- Healthier Communities and Older People
The 22 Local Area Agreements for the North West were finalised in June 2008 year and will exist for three years. View a full list of priorities for your area.
