Become a Flu fighter
NHS organisations across the North West have launched a campaign, aimed at their staff, to encourage as many as possible to take up the offer of the seasonal flu vaccine this year, and help to reduce the impact of flu on the patients they care for and their colleagues.
Each winter seasonal flu contributes to the deaths of over 8,000 people in England and Wales. And 200 out of every 100,000 people can go to their GP with flu-like symptoms. Globally, seasonal flu accounts for about three to five million causes of severe illness and between 250,000 and 500,000 deaths. Most deaths in industrialised countries occur among people aged 65 or older.
