East Lancashire covers the five boroughs of Burnley, Hyndburn, Pendle, Ribble Valley and Rossendale - each quite distinct in character.

Textiles have been a major part of Burnley’s history since 1296. Burnley is probably best known for its football team, founded in 1882, which has a 22,400 capacity stadium at Turf Moor.

Hyndburn is home to Europe’s largest collection of Tiffany Glass,. Accrington is also probably best known for its football team, Accrington Stanley, and for 'Accrington Pals' Regiment – many of whom were killed on the opening day of the Battle of the Somme, 1916.

History and legend has woven a spell over Pendle Hill. It is still an untamed place, and home of the infamous Pendle Witches, who were tried and executed for witchcraft in 1612.

Most of the mainly-rural Ribble Valley is designated by England’s Countryside Agency as an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty.
