PCT Information

Population: 447,000

Central and Eastern Cheshire is a diverse area of rural and urban communities, stretching from the southern Pennines in the east across the central Cheshire plain.

In the north east are the commuter towns of Wilmslow, Alderley Edge and Prestbury, where celebrity footballers and musicians have made their homes. Alderley Edge is also said to be where King Arthur and his knights slumber until the Day of Judgement.

Much of the area is rural and still engages in dairy farming, but it has a strong industrial past. Polythene manufacture was invented accidentally in 1933 near the salt town of Northwich, which became the centre of the chemical industry. Crewe is linked with railways and the manufacture of Rolls Royce and Bentley cars. Macclesfield was once the biggest producer of finished silk in the world, and is now the home of the world’s largest pharmaceutical industry.

Patient Opinion

We want to hear your story and your ideas to help other patients, and to improve the NHS. Here are some of the things you can do on Patient Opinion:

Patients and carers can find out what other people think of local hospitals, hospices and mental health services

And lots of people share the story of what happened to them or their family when they are ill

Most important of all patients and carers can tell it like it is - patients and carers know what the service Pregnant Woman and child was like and come up with lots of great ideas about how it could be better.

So you can tell people what happened to you, as well as reading what others think.
